What started as a fun chapter of Yor spying on Hemlock’s date ended with one of the darkest reveals the series has given us in a long time. If you want to know what’s behind Gympie’s past, you won’t have to wait long: Spy x Family 143 drops on Sunday, November 8 on MANGA Plus. Here’s the release time for your region, what I think could happen and a Chapter 142 recap.
When Does Spy x Family 143 Come Out?
According to MANGA Plus, the chapter arrives on Sunday, November 8, 2026. Tatsuya Endo’s manga releases every two weeks on the Shonen Jump+ app, and in Japan new chapters drop at midnight on Mondays. That’s why readers in the Americas and Europe get it on Sunday:

Where to Read Spy x Family 143
You can read it for free and legally on MANGA Plus, Shueisha’s official platform, which releases it in English the same day it comes out in Japan. It’s also on VIZ Media’s Shonen Jump app. Reading it there instead of on pirate sites is the best way to support Endo.
Spy x Family Chapter 142 Recap
Heads up, Chapter 142 spoilers ahead.
Chapter 142 came out on October 26. It starts off calm, but ends in a way nobody saw coming.
Yor visits Gympie. Yor stops by Gympie’s flower shop to give her a thank-you gift for teaching her about herbs. Gympie reminds her to use her public alias, “Mulberry,” and says marriage has made Yor more sociable. Yor gets flustered when Gympie asks if newlywed life is fun: her marriage may be a cover, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy it. I love when Endo gives us these little Yor moments.
Hemlock’s date. Then Hemlock walks in, scolding Yor as usual for her supposed “party girl” lifestyle. Turns out he’s there to buy flowers for a date with Millie, Yor’s coworker. He tells them not to follow him, but of course Gympie talks Yor into tailing them. At the aquarium, Hemlock is as blunt as ever, but Millie actually appreciates it: she tells him her exes were liars and cheaters, and she values his honesty. They’re a really odd couple, but I love them.
The dark turn. During the dolphin show, Gympie has a strong reaction and won’t let Yor touch her. That’s when she tells her something terrible: during the war, experiments were carried out on animals and, later, on people. A lot of fans immediately connected this to Project Apple, the program that experimented on Anya and Bond, and suspect Gympie was one of its victims too.
What Will Happen in Spy x Family 143? My Predictions
This is pure speculation based on how Chapter 142 ended.
1. More about Gympie’s past
Endo stopped right as Gympie was starting to open up. I think Spy x Family 143 will give us more details about what happened to her and how she ended up in the Garden.
2. The connection to Anya
If Gympie was part of the same experiments as Anya, this could be key to understanding where the little Forger’s powers come from. And remember, Yor has no idea her “daughter” reads minds, so this could hit very close to home without her realizing it.
3. Does Hemlock and Millie’s date continue?
After such a heavy topic, I wouldn’t be surprised if Endo cuts back to the date to ease the tension. Hemlock and Millie have a lot of comedic potential, and I’d love to see how it ends.
4. Yor, caught between the Garden and her family
Hearing this story could make Yor think harder about what protecting Anya really means. It’s the kind of moment Endo uses to add depth to her character.
